Vegetable Lasagna and Cookie Bowls

So as part of my New Year's resolutions, I made a new recipe last night!  On fact, I made TWO!  I found a recipe for vegetable lasagna and decided to give it a try.  For one, Shane and I can both eat it (yay!) and two, it could be made in the new crock pot I got for Christmas!

Here is the recipe I used:

I left out the olives because neither of us like those, but I kept everything else.  I just put the cheese on one half for me!  Here is how it turned out

I think we were both impressed with how good it tasted!  Definitely will try this again!

Ok, so now for my next recipe.  I have a confession, I cheated a little bit.  Well, a lot.  I saw these cookie cups on Pinterest and thought they looked easy!

So, I made the dough, ok, here is where I cheated, I just used a mix but I had just made dinner and was really tired of cooking.  And then I only half read the instructions.  Usually I just take recipes as an outline and do my own thing.  This is probably why things don't always work out for me.  Anyways, so I just kinda stuck the dough onto the muffin pan instead of rolling out the dough and cutting out circles to place on the pan.  And this is how they turned out:

Yikes.  I was laughing forever.  I did manage to save 2 of them, but the rest just got cut up and placed in a baggie for eating later.

So anyways, those are my 2 recipes this month.  January has gone by so fast!  Probably because I have been out of town a lot.  I probably won't be getting any kind of sewing done this month.  Fail.  How bout I sew two things next month to make up for it?  Sounds good to me.

New Year, New Resolutions

I can't believe I haven't been on here since October! Yikes! Anyways, here I am again with a new list of resolutions for 2012! 1) Make a new peice of clothing once a month. Usually when I am crafting, I make little things for around the house, but I want to get back into making clothes like I did when I first learned to sew! 2) Try out a new recipe at least twice a month. I know that doesn't seem like a lot, but I really don't cook. At all. So, I figure twice a month is good to start with anyway. 3) Explore Columbus more. I really only know the campus area but I want to take the time to see what else the city has to offer! I would like to go to more concerts, festivals, different restraunts, etc. to add some excitement to life! 4) Stop comparing myself to others. I do this all the time! I am always comparing myself to other people and thinking how everyone else seems to have everything together in life and I have nothing together. I know this is not true and I need to stop thinking this way! 5) Get in better shape. I am not setting a goal weight or anything I just need to be more active, wheher thats running, biking, or playing Just Dance on the Kinect! Ok so I think that's it. I am excied to see what this year will bring! Happy 2012!

Leopard Nails

I don't know fi you have noticed, but leopard print is very in this season.  I have been seeing it EVERYWHERE: hats, scarves, shoes, shirts, belts, etc.  Now, I have never really been into animal prints.  I always thought they were a bit tacky.  And they can be.  But lately I have been seeing them done in a really great way.  It's all about using them as a statement piece, and not letting the print take over.  Therefore, if your shirt is leopard, nothing else should be.  If your shoes are, then wear a simple colored outfit.  Now this is just how I feel about it, I know some people like to make everything they are wearing an animal print.  YIKES.

Since I don't own anything with an animal print I thought about how I could incorporate it into my look this season.  I had seen leopard nails done before so I decided to give it a try.  Here is what I came up with!
Step 1: Base coat...I chose a nude color

Step 2:  Make random spots with a darker color

Step 3: Outline spots with black polish
And Voila!
(Yes, that is Blanche from Golden Girls on the TV)

Here are the colors I used:
Base

Spots

I actually got A LOT of compliments on my nails, I was shocked!  So if you ever want to let your wild side out, give this a try!  It's nice because it's supposed to look random and messy!

Good luck!

Lei Frame DIY

In my new bedroom, I am going for a Hawaiian theme.  I know what I want to do on three of the walls in my room, but I wasn't sure what to do with the last one.  When I was moving out of my last apartment, my roommate gave me a bunch of leis that she had.  At first I didn't want them, but then I decided I could probably make something cool out of them.  Then, one day, I had a vision to make a giant frame out of them and put some of my Hawaii pictures inside of them!

All of the Leis

I cut each lei and then tied off the ends.

I used these and poster past to hang it

Without the Pictures

Finished Product!

I will post more pictures when I get everything else done!

Its Been a While

I haven't been on here in FOREVER (FOR-EV-ER...Sandlot, anyone?).  Anyways, I have been moving apartments and have been without internet.  So those are my excuses.

I will be posting new crafts, pics of my new pad (once it's finally all set up), and I am thinking about doing a new Outfit of the Day series.  We shall see.  I get internet in my new place in a week so I will post it all then!

In the mean time I am loving that fall is coming!  It is so nice to be able to wear jeans again!  And I can burn my Leaves candle from Bath and Body. It is the BEST.

Still on the hunt for a "better" job.  I actually am starting to like the one I have now.  If it paid more.  And had better hours.  But the people are nice so that helps!

I am also living life without cable these days.  And really, I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.  I do wish I had TLC and E! though.  Friday nights just aren't the same without Say Yes to the Dress.  And I do miss my E! News, but other than that I am good.

Ok, that's all for now, just wanted to say Hi!!!

Be Right Back!

Leftovers

Lately, I have been having issues with food.  A few weeks ago, I wanted nothing to do with it.  I barely ate and that was fine with me.  Then, all of a sudden all I wanted was pancakes.  Seriously.  I had them for lunch AND dinner.  Yes, I am weird.  And no, I did not make them myself I got those frozen ones that you just heat up in the microwave ( they are just as good, I swear).  After a few days of that I was ok again.  I was back to my normal eating.  But this past week and now this week NOTHING has sounded good to me!  The only thing I want is like fast food.  Don't worry I haven't been going out and getting McDonald's all week (not that that would have made me upset, I just don't have the money).  I went to the grocery store HUNGRY, the thing they tell you NOT to do because you will buy EVERYTHING that looks good.  But not me.  I bought a pack of hot dogs, an onion, and two baked potatoes.  Oh yeah, and some ice cream.  No matter what my mood I can ALWAYS eat ice cream. It's like a disease.  I usually don't give into my cravings and don't buy it, but this time, I just had to give in.  Sigh, I am so weak sometimes.

Anyways.  Yesterday I was at Target ( jersey knit sheets are on sale and they are my FAVORITE) to get some things, and ended up in the grocery section.  And there they were.  The answer to all my weird stomach cravings.  The perfect food to indulge in.  State Fair Corndogs.  On SALE no less.  I looked around, feeling guilty to giving in to such a disgustingly wonderful treat, and put a box in my cart.  I don't know how it got there!  But they were there.  And I had never been so happy to "cook" dinner.

So here I am, a freezer full of corndogs and ice cream.  How am I not 500 lbs???  God is good, that's why.

Since I had a corndog last night (YUUUMMMMYYY).  I decided to not have one today (see I'm not a monster).  Instead I had a microwave dinner! Ha!  Fooled you!  I'm still messed up!

I was thinking today about leftovers.  Does anyone else end up throwing them out or is it just me?  I always have the best intentions.  I think, Oh this will be great for lunch tomorrow.  But when lunch comes around, I always want my PB&J sandwich.  It never fails.  PB&J just always sounds better than whatever else I have. The only exception to this is mac and cheese, or if I have been out to dinner the night before and have leftovers from that.  Otherwise, the food usually gets thrown out.  I always feel bad.  It's hard cooking for one person in my opinion.  Unless you like pasta, and even that can be tricky because those noodles grow SO much in the pot and my little portion I measured out now seems huge!

That was a long rant.  And really had no purpose.  I apologize, but maybe it will make you feel better about your own life.  You can thank your stomach for being normal and craving normal people food instead of corn dogs and ice cream.

Movin on Up!

Yesterday I put down a deposit on a new apartment! I am sooooo excited! I will be living alone (yay for no more annoying roommates!) in a one bedroom apartment. my favorite part is the closet. It's huge! Plus I am close to the grocery, a target, and TWO crafts stores! I can't wait to move in! I will post pictures once I am all settled!
