Leopard Nails

I don't know fi you have noticed, but leopard print is very in this season.  I have been seeing it EVERYWHERE: hats, scarves, shoes, shirts, belts, etc.  Now, I have never really been into animal prints.  I always thought they were a bit tacky.  And they can be.  But lately I have been seeing them done in a really great way.  It's all about using them as a statement piece, and not letting the print take over.  Therefore, if your shirt is leopard, nothing else should be.  If your shoes are, then wear a simple colored outfit.  Now this is just how I feel about it, I know some people like to make everything they are wearing an animal print.  YIKES.

Since I don't own anything with an animal print I thought about how I could incorporate it into my look this season.  I had seen leopard nails done before so I decided to give it a try.  Here is what I came up with!
Step 1: Base coat...I chose a nude color

Step 2:  Make random spots with a darker color

Step 3: Outline spots with black polish
And Voila!
(Yes, that is Blanche from Golden Girls on the TV)

Here are the colors I used:
Base

Spots

I actually got A LOT of compliments on my nails, I was shocked!  So if you ever want to let your wild side out, give this a try!  It's nice because it's supposed to look random and messy!

Good luck!

Lei Frame DIY

In my new bedroom, I am going for a Hawaiian theme.  I know what I want to do on three of the walls in my room, but I wasn't sure what to do with the last one.  When I was moving out of my last apartment, my roommate gave me a bunch of leis that she had.  At first I didn't want them, but then I decided I could probably make something cool out of them.  Then, one day, I had a vision to make a giant frame out of them and put some of my Hawaii pictures inside of them!

All of the Leis

I cut each lei and then tied off the ends.

I used these and poster past to hang it

I will post more pictures when I get everything else done!

Its Been a While

I haven't been on here in FOREVER (FOR-EV-ER...Sandlot, anyone?).  Anyways, I have been moving apartments and have been without internet.  So those are my excuses.

I will be posting new crafts, pics of my new pad (once it's finally all set up), and I am thinking about doing a new Outfit of the Day series.  We shall see.  I get internet in my new place in a week so I will post it all then!

In the mean time I am loving that fall is coming!  It is so nice to be able to wear jeans again!  And I can burn my Leaves candle from Bath and Body. It is the BEST.

Still on the hunt for a "better" job.  I actually am starting to like the one I have now.  If it paid more.  And had better hours.  But the people are nice so that helps!

I am also living life without cable these days.  And really, I don't miss it as much as I thought I would.  I do wish I had TLC and E! though.  Friday nights just aren't the same without Say Yes to the Dress.  And I do miss my E! News, but other than that I am good.

Ok, that's all for now, just wanted to say Hi!!!

Be Right Back!

Leftovers

Lately, I have been having issues with food.  A few weeks ago, I wanted nothing to do with it.  I barely ate and that was fine with me.  Then, all of a sudden all I wanted was pancakes.  Seriously.  I had them for lunch AND dinner.  Yes, I am weird.  And no, I did not make them myself I got those frozen ones that you just heat up in the microwave ( they are just as good, I swear).  After a few days of that I was ok again.  I was back to my normal eating.  But this past week and now this week NOTHING has sounded good to me!  The only thing I want is like fast food.  Don't worry I haven't been going out and getting McDonald's all week (not that that would have made me upset, I just don't have the money).  I went to the grocery store HUNGRY, the thing they tell you NOT to do because you will buy EVERYTHING that looks good.  But not me.  I bought a pack of hot dogs, an onion, and two baked potatoes.  Oh yeah, and some ice cream.  No matter what my mood I can ALWAYS eat ice cream. It's like a disease.  I usually don't give into my cravings and don't buy it, but this time, I just had to give in.  Sigh, I am so weak sometimes.

Anyways.  Yesterday I was at Target ( jersey knit sheets are on sale and they are my FAVORITE) to get some things, and ended up in the grocery section.  And there they were.  The answer to all my weird stomach cravings.  The perfect food to indulge in.  State Fair Corndogs.  On SALE no less.  I looked around, feeling guilty to giving in to such a disgustingly wonderful treat, and put a box in my cart.  I don't know how it got there!  But they were there.  And I had never been so happy to "cook" dinner.

So here I am, a freezer full of corndogs and ice cream.  How am I not 500 lbs???  God is good, that's why.

Since I had a corndog last night (YUUUMMMMYYY).  I decided to not have one today (see I'm not a monster).  Instead I had a microwave dinner! Ha!  Fooled you!  I'm still messed up!

I was thinking today about leftovers.  Does anyone else end up throwing them out or is it just me?  I always have the best intentions.  I think, Oh this will be great for lunch tomorrow.  But when lunch comes around, I always want my PB&J sandwich.  It never fails.  PB&J just always sounds better than whatever else I have. The only exception to this is mac and cheese, or if I have been out to dinner the night before and have leftovers from that.  Otherwise, the food usually gets thrown out.  I always feel bad.  It's hard cooking for one person in my opinion.  Unless you like pasta, and even that can be tricky because those noodles grow SO much in the pot and my little portion I measured out now seems huge!

That was a long rant.  And really had no purpose.  I apologize, but maybe it will make you feel better about your own life.  You can thank your stomach for being normal and craving normal people food instead of corn dogs and ice cream.

Movin on Up!

Yesterday I put down a deposit on a new apartment! I am sooooo excited! I will be living alone (yay for no more annoying roommates!) in a one bedroom apartment. my favorite part is the closet. It's huge! Plus I am close to the grocery, a target, and TWO crafts stores! I can't wait to move in! I will post pictures once I am all settled!

Roller Coaster Day

So yesterday was quite a day.

It started off well enough. I was excited because I had the day off from work so I could go out and get a lot of errands done. The first thing I did though was call up the guy I have been working with who has been getting me different interviews. I called him to follow up in a few thing and found out I didnt blow the interviewer away during my last interview. Fail. He said it wasnt that I did bad she just wanted excited enough to send me out on the next flight to NYC. He said I was at a disadvantage because I have to do phine interviews while the other candidates live locally.
Anyways, he said he wants me to interview for another position with the same company. Here we go again.

So I was bumming about that. I mean it has been a month probably since I started working with this guy and nothing has really happened. In the mean time I am trying to figure out my budget with my current job and figure out if I will be living in an apatment or a cardboard box when my lease now ends which is at the end of August. Blah.

Anyways I decided I wasnt going to let that ruin my day so I had lunch and got ready and went out to my car. As I was approaching I thought, that's weird it looks like my window is rolled down. If only I was so lucky. No, in fact my entire passenger side window was smashed in. I knew my GPS had been in there so my heart sank knowing that it was now gone. That's all they took. Just the GPS no cords or anything. Stupid. I immediately started bawling my eyes out. I felt so stupid for leaving my gps in the car! I called my parents, then called the police. Luckily my insurance paid for the window and the gps which was really nice. Plus they got me into contact with a company that came to my apartment and fixed the window for me. Such a blessing!

So i was delayed a few hours but I managed to get out and run my errands. I went to cvs to pick up my hawaii pictures and was dissapointed by the quality of the colors. Not sure if it's cvs or my camera. Oh and then I sat on my sungkasses and broke them. I had a new recipe for rice that was supposed to taste like chipotle's. It was ok, it kind of made me feel sick though so that sucked.

I decided i should just stay in the rest of the day so nothing else could happen to me. Sheesh. I know it could have been a lot worse so I am very thankful. I am glad today is a new day!

The little monster in my throat finally set itself free! I do not know how it got out but it was gone when I looked for it yesterday afternoon. Phew! Such a relief!

In other news, the last Harry Potter movie is tonight! I am sooooo excited!!!!

Help!

So I have a problem...

Last Friday I noticed that when I swallowed it felt like there was food stuck on the back of my tongue that I couldn't get down.  I didn't notice it all the time, so I figured I was just being silly.  Saturday I noticed it a little more but it still wasn't that bad.  Sunday, however, I was noticing it a lot and started to freak out a little.  When I looked in the mirror I didn't see anything so I thought it was all in my mind.  Finally, I had my bf look into my mouth to see if he could find anything and at first he didn't see anything so I started saying "aahhhhh" like the doctors have you do and he saw something!  I have a big white spot on my right tonsil.  NASTY.  It looks like a piece of popcorn jammed up in there.  I started freaking out.  We looked it up on the internet and saw that it was most likely a tonsil stone (!?).  Most people can get them out on their own with a q-tip.  I tried to get it out, I really did.  But I have a really bad gag reflex.  Like it's hard for me to take a pill.  So, after a few days I decided I needed to go to the doctor.  So I drove 2 hours home to go to the doctor.  I got in there and he told me some food particles had gotten stuck on my tonsil.  (Ew.)  He said they are pretty common and were nothing to worry about unless they got infected.  He then continued to put a huge Popsicle stick down my throat.  Of course I started gagging and he was just like "yea, your gag reflex is too much.  You are going to have to go to a specialist."  Thanks, a lot doc!  So I drove 2 hours for a 5 minute attempt from him.  Sheesh.  So for now I am trying to get it out myself.  I tried a q-tip, salt water, lemon juice, hot tea, a water pick, shooting water at it from a baby medicine dropper.  It is stuck.

If you can think of any other ways to get it out, please let me know!  I really don't want to have to go to another doctor.  Oh life, you are just full of surprises

When it rains, it pours

Phew! I have had a busy summer so far!

First graduation, then a trip to Hawaii! While I was in hawaii (waiting in line at Pearl Harbor, no less), i got a call about a job! So within the next week of me getting back I ended up with two job offers! Craziness. I ended up choosing the one I felt could get me up to a full time corporate job the fastest. Hopefully it will lead to bigger and better things! While I was at work yesterday I got a call about my dream job. An assistant buyer for a childrens clothing company! I have a phone interview tomorrow morning that i am very excited about! Wish me luck and i will keep you posted.

Done.

I am officially done with college. How did this happen?! It went sooo fast! Now all that is left is graduation. Holy cow.

No more studying, no more test, no more homework, no more eating an entire large pizza because I am 99% sure I failed my math test. No more walking to class in blizzards or torentual downpours.

I am glad school is done, but boy am i going to miss the lifestyle.

When else in your life is it acceptable to stay out until 3am and wake up at noon? When else can you wear pajamas with ugg boots and people will still accept you? When else can you spend at least half your day on Facebook and not be labeled as a creeper?

O college, how i will look back at our time together with the sweetest of memories. Thank you for teaching me that you can survive off easy mac and hostess snacks, that crazy professors are often the ones you learn the most from, that it's ok to eat a large pizza after you fail an exam as long as you dont take the bus the next day, that your new friends will become a second family, that no matter how old you are you always want your mom when you are sick, and that it is perfectly acceptable to jump in a lake in the middle of November as long as it means your football team will win.

So cheers to college and the road ahead!

Locket Bracelet

A little while back my Grandma asked if I wanted this locket.  I am not sure what the story is behind it but I thought it was so pretty!  I finally got around to putting it on a bracelet this weekend!

I found the coolest bracelet at JoAnn!  The little gold nob screws off so you can put your beads on, then it is just a magnetic closure!  Just make sure your beads have a hole that is big enough to fit around the small screw bit!

The other side of the locket
The beads I used

Finished project

Then I found these cute charms in the clearance section!   I think they would make cute earrings!!

Flower Power

And I am back with another craft!!  I did a little spring cleaning and found some fabric left over from other projects!

First I found some leftover fabric my Tinkerbell costume for Halloween!  Here is what I came up with...
The pearls are just some pearl beads from Jo Ann!

Decided to put it on a ribbon

The finished product!

I also made a flower from some fabric that I made pillows out of...
Added some sequins for some sparkle
I haven't decided if I want to put this on a clip or a ribbon yet!

I also found the fabric in the next 2 flowers in the fat quarter section of JoAnn...thought they were so cute for summer!

I have made adjustments of my own but that is the basics!  I usually don't use the big flower cut out because I think it is too much for my little head!

Fabric Flower Rings

I have just been in the mood to be creative lately!  I can't wait until I have room for a sewing machine!  Until then, my glue gun has become my new BFF.  One of my favorite sites to stalk is Craftgawker.  It is amazing!
I was looking on there today and found a link to flower fabric rings!  The original tutorial can be found here.

I made a few adjustment to the original tutorial.  Instead of using elastic from the store I just cut up one of my pony tail holders!  I have so many that I knew I could afford to lose one!  Plus, I ended up having enough to make 2 rings from one pony tail holder!

I am not one for measuring so I don't have exact measurements.  It all depends on how big you want your flower!  Here are some pictures from the process!

Regular hair band

Cut and measured to fit my finger.  Just hot glued the loose ends!

Random old fabric

Finished!

The red one I made next

Hope you enjoy!  I urge you to try this out with old fabric scraps!  This cost me nothing!

Crafting!!!

This past week I was inspired to do some crafting!!

First I made these cute little clips with flowers on them!  I just free handed everything and then hot glued them onto the clip!  I think they are cute for the spring and summer!  And super easy!

For my birthday, I requested a new pair of slippers.  I have had my old slippers since high school and they were looking a little, well, loved.  Like really loved.
Exhibit A
So my request was answered and I got these cuties for my 22nd.  Anyways, I was feeling bad about throwing these away so I was trying to think of how I could salvage them. It just so happened the dress I was wearing that matched the sparkles on those slippers so I decided to cut them up!

After cutting them I glued them onto some clips!  Easy as that!  I am such a sucker for sparkles and I thought this way i could feel a little better about tossing them out!

In my hair

Don't you just LOVE the tacky wood walls in my bathroom?
Hope you enjoyed my crafting!

Has Spring Finally Sprung?

Hello everyone!

Just got done working out. I know.  I figure I should A) get in shape for the upcoming trip to Hawaii B) Use the facilities I have available to me since I am paying for them anyways C) take advantage of this feeling to go outside when it is so nice (even though I am working out inside) or D) All of the Above.
D.  Final Answer.

It is HOT here.  Like summer hot.  I was actually sweating before I even started my workout.  So attractive.

This weekend I am participating in Relay For Life!  I am super excited!  I am on the Public Relations committee so not only will I be participating in the relay I will also be helping with registration and games!  Fingers crossed that the weather cooperates and we don't get any rain.  i will be sleeping in a tent.  Yes, me, in a tent.  Sigh.  I will probably only be getting about 3 hours of sleep that night anyways though so it won't really matter where I am sleeping.

Whenever I work out I lose my appetite.  I feel like it should be the opposite.  i should be more hungry since I just burned calories, but food always sounds really bad.  That's why I decided to do a post to wait for my stomach to get hungry again!

I was going to go layout a bit, but like I said it's hot.  I don't like the heat if you didn't catch on.  Unless I am on a beach or by the pool where I have somewhere to cool off.  We shall see maybe I will be inspired by my ever fading tan line from my spring break trip to the Bahamas and go read for a while.

Anyways, hope you all are able to get out and enjoy the sun!  Happy Wednesday, the weekend is right around the corner!

Olay Beauty Fluid

So, last summer I was on the hunt for a new moisturizer.  I had grown out of the need for extra chemicals that get rid of zits, but I wasn't ready for a thick cream that takes forever to set in.  As a college student I prefer to get ready as quickly as possible in the morning! So, anyways, I happened to pick up Olay Active Hydrating Beauty Fluid.  It is amazing!  It's not too thick, it sets in quickly, and it makes my skin so soft!  I highly recommend it!  Plus, you don't need very much so it lasts a really long time.  You can get it anywhere (target, Wal Mart, CVS, etc).  It doesn't have any SPF in it, but my make up does so I am not too concerned with that. Plus, I'm not exactly in the sun that much here in OH.  It comes in a box, so make sure to look for that and not just the bottle by itself.  Next time you are in need of a good moisturizer check it out!!!

Royal Gossip

So, there's not much in this world that can get me up before 10AM.  But you can be sure that I was awake at 4:45 AM to watch the Royal Wedding!  And let me tell you, it was worth waking up for!

The hats!  Oh, the hats!  It made me want to wear an amazing hat so bad!!  Maybe for my wedding I will force people to wear awesome hats?

Ok, I admit the one in the middle is a bit much.  Sort of reminded me of a Who, but gotta love that confidence!

The men looked dashing, as usual.  And, if you ask me, Harry has surpassed his big brother in hottness.

The Queen looked elegant in a buttercup yellow ensemble.  Did you know you are not supposed to wear the same color as the queen at an event??  My question is, How do you know what she is going to be wearing!?

And last, but not least, the BRIDE!!!

LOVED it!!! It was perfect!  The train wasn't too long, the lace was both modern and traditional.  She looked like herself, but she also looked like a princess.  Sigh.  Many people are comparing the dress to the one that
Grace Kelly wore at her wedding

I have to say that they are similar, but Kate's has the perfect amount of modern touches so that it doesn't look too old fashion.

Oh!  And can we talk about how her sister wore ivory to the wedding!?  A social taboo here in the states, but apparently this is common in the UK.  Who knew this royal wedding would be so educational!?

I can't wait for the next royal wedding!!!

Congrats to William and Kate!
